CNC Milling is a machining process that uses rotating multipoint cutting tools to remove material to manufacture the component to exact specifications. CNC milling uses preprogrammed settings to insert the workpiece in the right direction to the cutting tool and can be used to create different types of objects. CNC milling can be classified as face milling for shallow cuts and flat surfaces, and peripheral milling for cutting deep cavities into the workpiece.
Turning or CNC Lathe switches over to a single-point cutting tool, helpful in removing material from the rotating workpiece. The CNC lathe machine removes material around the circumference of the workpiece until the desired diameter is achieved. It can create the part with the right features like slots, tapers, and threads.
Both are run by computers, allowing precision engineering. Making small parts requires extreme accuracy, and it’s something we can achieve by CNC milling or lathe. Either way, you can expect results to be the same as they were on the blueprint.
